Pedro Pena Bastos
Chef Pedro Pena Bastos is a leading star of Portugal's new generation, renowned for his seasonal cuisine rooted in small producers and authentic flavours.
Born in Porto in 1990, he trained at Estoril's Hospitality School while working at Belcanto, Feitoria, London's Ledbury, and Copenhagen's Geranium. At 24, he led Herdade do Esporão in Alentejo, gaining recognition for his work with local producers. His next project, the intimate 14-seat Ceia, earned a place in 50 Best Discovery.
In 2020, he opened Cura at Lisbon's Ritz Four Seasons Hotel. Just over a year later, he became the first chef in the hotel's history to earn a Michelin star. The Best Chef Awards honoured him with two knives as a "world-class" chef.
A beloved MasterChef Portugal judge, he left Cura in early 2025 to prepare Broto, his new project with the Pedro Pena Bastos Group.
