Rui Silvestre

Fifty Seconds

Chef Rui Silvestre is a Portuguese chef who made history as the youngest Portuguese to earn a Michelin star, achieving the accolade at age 29 in 2015.

Born in Valongo, he moved to the Algarve at 10. Seeking inspiration, he spent seven years in France, Switzerland, and Hungary, with a formative stage at Christophe Bacquié's three-Michelin-starred Le Castellet in France.

His cuisine marries French technique with innovative flavour combinations, blending the best land and sea products while preserving the authentic taste of local ingredients. He evokes all the senses through unexpected pairings and meticulous execution.

He currently leads Fifty Seconds, perched atop Lisbon's Vasco da Gama Tower, where he continues to push boundaries with panoramic views to match his ambitious cooking.
