Restaurant GoJuu
GoJuu stands as a living tribute to the legacy of itamae Takashi Yoshitake, one of the true ambassadors of traditional Japanese gastronomy in Portugal. This is not merely a restaurant—it is a celebration of the master's life, his art, and the profound mark he left on all who knew him.
The restaurant brings together Yoshitake-san's disciples—the sushimen who learned their craft directly from him—to preserve and perpetuate his recipes and philosophy. Diners experience dishes prepared exactly as the master taught, served on his own porcelain, in a space designed to honour his memory. The warm welcome is overseen by Carmen, the person he trusted most.
GoJuu's purpose is clear: to honour traditional Japanese gastronomy, its masters, its cult places, and its followers. There is no attempt to replicate the irreplaceable AYA, Yoshitake-san's legendary restaurant. Instead, GoJuu gathers "his people"—those who learned to eat and appreciate this culinary art form through him—to keep his spirit alive.
The restaurant operates with a unique rhythm. From Thursday to Saturday, dinner is reserved for Club GoJuu members and friends, though outside reservations are accepted with 24 hours' notice. Lunch and earlier weeknight dinners are open to all who wish to discover the authentic tastes of Japan as one master taught them.
