Bar Imprensa
When Imprensa first opened its doors in Príncipe Real, the concept of a dedicated oyster bar was almost unheard‑of in Lisbon. Founded by five bartenders with a shared vision, it brought a slice of “Brooklyn‑style” cool to the city—and in doing so, helped spark the oyster revolution that now defines Lisbon's drinking scene. Today, with two thriving locations, Imprensa remains one of the very best places to enjoy fresh oysters and exceptional cocktails.
The original bar on Rua da Imprensa Nacional is low‑lit and intimate, its walls lined with typewriters and typographic touches that playfully nod to the name “National Press.” Guests can leave messages on an Olivetti, sip natural wine, and watch oysters shucked to order right at the counter. The team visits their producers in Setúbal several times weekly to ensure absolute freshness.
The cocktail menu is equally considered. Signature drinks are crafted with precision and imagination. At the newer Baixa location, six original cocktails are named after typefaces: the Gill Sans blends tequila, Laphroaig, passion fruit, and vanilla; the Bloody Maria—a brunch classic reimagined with tequila and mezcal—arrives garnished with an oyster.
Beyond oysters, the menu offers well‑chosen plates: burrata with tomatoes, brioche sandwiches, and prosciutto on toast—simple, high‑quality accompaniments to the main event.
