Hugo Candeias

Privete projects

Hugo Candeias is a Portuguese chef with an international trajectory spanning Lisbon, London, and Barcelona, now preparing a new personal project following his tenure at Ofício and Dona.

A graduate of the Lisbon School of Hotel and Tourism Management, he refined his craft at two-Michelin-starred Dinner by Heston Blumenthal and Galvin at Windows in London, then spent two years at Barcelona's Hotel Arts. His most formative experience came during nearly five years with Albert Adrià's ElBarri group, where he rose to Head Chef at Hoja Santa and Niño Viejo.
He led The Art Gate and later Ofício, which earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand. Parallel to his restaurant work, he launched Tarte Basqa—a Basque-style cheesecake that achieved such public acclaim it led to his own kiosk at Jardim da Estrela. A regular presence at Chefs on Fire and the Lyon Street Food Festival, he now prepares to unveil a more personal, author-driven concept.
