Vitor Sobral
Chef Vitor Sobral is an unmistakable name in Portuguese cuisine, a leading figure in its modernization with impact beyond borders. A pioneer in using Portuguese products, he developed an authorial cuisine with dishes that endure in gastronomic memory.
Trained at Estoril Hotel School and in France (Le Nôtre, Alain Ducasse), he has received numerous accolades: Commander of the Order of Prince Henry, Chef of the Year (1999), Personality of the Year in Gastronomy (2011), Career Award Boa Cama Boa Mesa (2021), and the Portuguese Gastronomy Association's Grand Prize (2024).
He is author of over 20 books, including the award-winning "My Codfish Recipes" (Gourmand International 2013). His restaurants include Tasca da Esquina (Lisbon and São Paulo), the latter twice named Best Portuguese Restaurant in Brazil. In 2025, he represented Portuguese gastronomy as ambassador at Expo Osaka.
