Restaurant Fifty Seconds
High above Lisbon, 120 metres up in the iconic Torre Vasco da Gama, FIFTY SECONDS offers a dining experience that begins even before you taste the first dish. The name itself hints at the journey: a dedicated lift takes exactly 50 seconds to reach the restaurant, where panoramic views and a Michelin star await.
At the helm is chef Rui Silvestre, who made history as the youngest Portuguese chef to earn a Michelin star. His cooking is a creative exploration of flavours, with seafood taking centre stage. The single tasting menu, titled “Fauna e Flora”, is available in 11, 12, or 14 courses and showcases his masterful interplay of textures and globally inspired garnishes.
A signature dish, Polvo e beterraba (octopus and beetroot), perfectly captures his style—served with two distinct sauces (yoghurt with herbs, and a masala-style blend) that reflect his Mozambican and Indian heritage. Silvestre masterfully combines the best of land and sea, preserving the authentic taste of local ingredients while weaving in exotic spices.
The experience is a sensory journey through world flavours, set against Lisbon’s skyline. It is cuisine that challenges, delights, and remains unforgettable.
